- Good Foods For Gout, Paleo Diet For Gout, Red Meat and Gout
For most people, the idea of doing the Paleo Diet for gout doesn’t make a lot of sense.
We’ve all been told to stay away from red meats and meats in general (but we never do!) and the Paleo Diet is all about eating plants and animals.
In my humble opinion, what could be wrong with that?
What IS the Paleo Diet?
The Paleo Diet is “the caveman diet”. Biologically speaking, we haven’t changed much as human beings in the last 100,000 years or so. Our bodies were designed to eat meat and plants, mostly raw. Here’s what I think: Those cavemen probably had a much easier time catching plants than they did animals…maybe by about 80/20…which is perfect!
Plants sources of food are typically more alkaline-forming when ingested and meats/proteins are more acid-forming…OMG! The Paleo Diet is actually a low purine diet! Which is the perfect diet for gout!
Why the Paleo Diet is Good for Gout
You see, we’re all cavemen and women when it comes right down to it. We NEED to eat meat – some meat, it doesn’t really take much. The fat soluble vitamins and activators are essential for maintaining a body that works properly at the biochemical level. When we’ve got everything working right, we don’t get gout.
And this is the part you’ve been waiting for – I have a confession to make:
- I Eat Liver.
It’s true. I try to eat it once a week. I saute it in a generous amount of butter from pasture-fed cows with fresh minced organic garlic and onions. The massively important thing I want you to know however is that it’s only 2oz…barely an appetizer! Like I said it doesn’t take much – 2oz is only 56.7 grams.
But I’d like you to get the importance of this from someone WAY smarter that me: Chris Kresser L.Ac. Liver is superfood…in fact Chris says, “nature’s most potent superfood”. There are more B vitamins, vitamin C, and minerals that ANY fruit or vegetable per 100 grams.
So what’s the problem? Liver has a high concentration of purines as well. Keep that in mind next time you think of putting some raw liver in the Vitamix for your morning smoothie.
. . .
You know I’ve been almost gout free since I found you. Between your straight up advice, your website, and research on the web, I think we got me under control, before I got some serious damage. I just wish I could have downloaded your book on this smart phone of mine. I’ve added a lot of alkalizing foods to my diet, but have not eliminated anything, except maybe portion sizes. The Meat Cleaver is alkalizing, just do it and never give up, praise the Lord for you, I hope he has provided your a good and prosperous life, for your help to mankind. ~ Jimmy
. . .
Paleo or Primal?
As you start to go caveman, there are a few things to know. First of all, cavemen didn’t bake bread. In fact they didn’t really cook anything on purpose. The other thing they didn’t do was milk cows…they didn’t have cows – tell me, have you ever seen a “wild” cow? Me either.
This all started as “paleo” but “primal” has now sort of become like “designer paleo” – you can eat some dairy as long as it’s raw and cultured like kefir, maybe yogurt. And you can eat some legumes – you know, “beans”, and eggs as well…from free-range chickens.
- But grains, i.e. bread and pasta are out. Refined grains, refined sugars, and hydrogenated fats and oils are what has gotten us into the health mess we’re in today…and well, pharmacuetical drugs too but generally it’s more because of all the crap disguised as food.
Avoid these things. If you don’t know what they are it’s simple: They’re processed foods – you know, all the trash food you get at the fast food joints and the center aisles of the grocery store.
☆ Remember! A Paleo Diet is great diet for gout…cavemen didn’t eat processed foods.

Bert Middleton, The Original Gout Killer
“I know your pain. Let me help you kill your gout for good! And teach you to advocate for yourself and take ownership of your gout recovery, by showing you how to live the gout-free lifestyle.”
Two decades ago, Bert Middleton found himself diagnosed with gout. Like 8.3 million other people in the United States (approximately 4% of the population), he struggled helplessly with the physical, emotional, social, and financial impact that gout left unchecked can have on your life.
Prescription drugs were of limited help…
And the terrible pain of regular gout attacks left him unable to enjoy even the simplest daily pleasures. His marriage was suffering. His finances were spiraling due to the impact gout had on his ability to work. And maintaining a social life was often nearly impossible.
Tophi surgeries left him in terrible pain. And he found himself depressed … and angry … that gout was stealing years of his life.
Until one day, after hundreds of hours of research and self-experimentation, Bert finally had a breakthrough and created a blueprint for a way of living that would prove to be “the answer” to living gout-free for nearly a decade now.
Today, Bert and his “Gout Wife” Sharon devote their evenings and weekends to educating other gout sufferers on how to live the gout-free lifestyle via their website TheGoutKiller.com
Showing others his 911 Emergency Response Gout Recovery Plan for getting PAINFUL gout attacks under control in as little as 4 hours.
And then, how to make daily choices that keep gout under control for GOOD!
So you can finally start LIVING again!
