“The Two Big Things That Kept Me Out Of The Gout Zone Over Thanksgiving!”

There are a couple of reasons that this was a particularly good conference call.

First is that Rockin’ Randy Smith came on and shared a little bit about his experience and interaction with me and how his gout has been “cured” (his words!)  Second, how my recent past experience of traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday really reinforced some of my gout killin’ best practices.  Most important is my the benefit of supplementation, hydration in general, and the type of water we drink.

An interesting thing happened while we made our way over to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to visit my wife’s folks for the holiday.  We were sitting a lot, eating out a lot, eating other peoples cooking…a lot, and sleeping in in familiar beds in unfamiliar surroundings.  Get the picture?  I’m usually very religious about my supplementation.  However, in light of all the goings ons, I sort of slipped and it my routine became kind of hit or miss.

One thing I want to relate is that I sort of don’t believe in supplements. With that said, I take a handful morning and evening.  In this toxic world we live in, the nutrient density of the soils our foods are grown in is quite poor. (i.e. the plants WE eat, and the plants the animals we eat, eat)  We don’t always get everything we need.  So, supplementation can help fill in the gaps, but we need to keep tabs on what we are sufficient in and what we are deficient in.

The long and short of it is, within a couple of days, I started to feel off.  I have trained myself to know that when I feel like that, I am entering the Gout Zone.  Interestingly enough, the stress of the circumstances became much easier to deal with and much more enjoyable.  I got on the stick and plugged back into my supplement taking routine.

Being some what older and ranch raised, I was of course skeptical to the point of asking what your qualification’s are for sharing medical advice. THAT WAS BEFORE THE PAIN STOPPED. We didn’t take our water ionizer with us on this trip like we often do when we travel.  When we stay at hotels without our ionizer, we fill up water bottles and let them set out overnight to let the chlorine dissipate as much as possible.  In as much as chlorine is a good thing to make our water safe to drink, it isn’t good for health.  You should do whatever you can to avoid drinking chlorinated water. (bottled water is not a better option, filter your water yourself)

The point is, I managed to keep myself sufficiently hydrated but my body sorely missed my ionized water.  If you listen to the recording, I compare the experience of when you take a shot of hard liquor and how you immediately feel the effects, with how I felt when we got home and I downed a big glass of ionized water.  Not all water is created equal!
