#1 Budget
Don’t exceed your budget . . . that just adds to stress. Plan ahead, map it all out, create a contingency, and stick with it. As it goes, gout has a very close association with stress, and money is one of the numero uno things that stress most of us out. Planning a budget and then making a game out of sticking to is gout prevention in and of itself.
#2 Don’t Stay Away Too Long
You know what I mean – when you stay away so long that you’re work piles up, THAT becomes a source of mental anguish and severe stress too. The process of getting it all together and taking the time off is one thing – getting back to an insurmountable backlog of work is quite another.
#3 Research
Do your research and find the highest quality restaurants you can – call and ask if they have organic veggies and grass fed beef! High quality doesn’t necessarily equate to high price – it’s not as difficult to find good clean food as you might think. Having everything all scoped out ahead of time is one of the best ways to head off the hunger, and a gout attack, because you settled for crap food at the last minute.
#4 Bring Your Own Food
If possible, bring a cooler with your own healthy food and gout remedies; fruits, nuts, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, tart cherry juice, and your own healthy water. If it’s not possible, do some research in advance and find a health food store that you can raid as soon as you get there – stock up, especially if you’re not going to be able to bring your own weapons of massive gout destruction.
#5 Drink Less For A Gout Free Summer Vacation
Plan some fun activities besides just drinking! Why is it that we all seem to think that to have a good time you have to drink alcohol? Take the test: Make a note to yourself about when you first got the idea that you needed a drink of something alcoholic . . . and then resisted it. What did you find to do instead? Order water? Take a walk? Take a swim? Read some more of your book? Find a quite spot to practice your breathing and meditation?
There are a million and one things that we all can do BESIDES drinking when we’re on vacation – we just have get creative.
. . .
I didn’t wanna alarm ya Bert… But… Just beat one back…. No foolin, hurt like a muthaf%cka too… Turns out, me and absinthe don’t mix… But water water water, cherry juice and Advil will kick ass eventually…. I love your work big guy… One day I will be worthy!! ~ John
. . .
#6 Get Some Exercise!
Plan in some exercise – a hike or nice long walk, etc . . . OR . . . bring your shoes and racket, bring the Frisbee, the boogie board, the backpack, the bike, and the bikini! Shouldn’t a vacation be all about running around half naked in the sun?!
#7 Get Some Sleep!
And of course after an action-packed day in the sun, a healthy dinner, some dancing on the deck, and relaxing conversation, it’s time to catch up on sleep! (or maybe right after all the adult exercises . . . ?)
#8 Plan a Graceful Re-entry
This is the hard part – get home earlier enough that you can have a graceful “re-entry” . . . its all about stress management and you don’t want to blame your fabulous, relaxing time in the sun on that gout attack you just got because you stressed big and fell right back into your old habits of bad food and alcohol.
Get home, get unpacked, settle in, get a good nights sleep and return to your business life with a tan and a smile!
☆ Remember! Having a gout free summer vacation IS The Gout Killer prescription for gout prevention!
“I know your pain. Let me help you kill your gout for good! And teach you to advocate for yourself and take ownership of your gout recovery, by showing you how to live the gout-free lifestyle.” Two decades ago, Bert Middleton found himself diagnosed with gout. Like 8.3 million other people in the United States (approximately 4% of the population), he struggled helplessly with the physical, emotional, social, and financial impact that gout left unchecked can have on your life. Prescription drugs were of limited help… And the terrible pain of regular gout attacks left him unable to enjoy even the simplest daily pleasures. His marriage was suffering. His finances were spiraling due to the impact gout had on his ability to work. And maintaining a social life was often nearly impossible. Tophi surgeries left him in terrible pain. And he found himself depressed … and angry … that gout was stealing years of his life.
Until one day, after hundreds of hours of research and self-experimentation, Bert finally had a breakthrough and created a blueprint for a way of living that would prove to be “the answer” to living gout-free for nearly a decade now. Today, Bert and his “Gout Wife” Sharon devote their evenings and weekends to educating other gout sufferers on how to live the gout-free lifestyle. Showing others his 911 Emergency Response Gout Recovery Plan for getting PAINFUL gout attacks under control in as little as 4 hours. And then, how to make daily choices that keep gout under control for GOOD! So you can finally start LIVING again!
