Let’s face it, for the typical American, (and others around the world for that matter) our sleep habits could use some attention…especially when it comes to preventing gout.
Day in and day out, we hear how much we need to sleep, why we should make more of an effort, how hard it is on our bodies when we don’t get enough sleep…and on and on.
So my question to you is this: Why don’t we improve our sleep habits? What good is it going to do you to have me banging on you about it too? Nothing. So I’m not going to!
But listen to what they have to say about it over here at helpguide.org:
- Dampened immune system. Without adequate sleep, the immune system becomes weak, making you more vulnerable to colds, flu, and other infections and diseases. And if you get sick, it takes you longer to recover.
See? I let them do the “banging”. Click on the link and get a feel for what might work for you and what to expect.
A word of caution: go easy on yourself – it’s taken a lot of hard living to get to where you are now and you’re not going to undo it overnight. The effects of gout are bad enough, but remember, if you’ve got gout, you’re a good candidate for other serious illnesses.

Thank you Bert, I’ve come a long way. You helped a lot. I was a little goofy there for a while and had a number of physical problems. But gout hasn’t been one of them. Frankly your tips can benefit anyone. They are wise and sensible solutions to an overall better life. You are what you eat, breathe and how you sleep. I learned that from you. I heard it a hundred times before you, but I truly learned it from you.
Thank you Bert.

Gout and Sleep?
When it comes specifically to gout, our sleep habits are so overlooked and underrated…IMO. Have you ever needed to stay awake for 24 or 48 hours to fulfill some sort of responsibility or obligation? Of course you have. When you finally did get to go to sleep, how did you feel? Like sh!t huh? Part of that feeling like shit, is because you’re guts (organs: kidneys, liver, pancreas, spleen, etc.) are just as tired as you feel – in fact, you feel tired because they’ve been overworked and are ready for a break.
Sleeping is an integral part of the cycle of how we maintain our health. Our cells are in the constant flow of regenerating and dying. It all comes back around to the importance of understanding how the cells get and use fuels & nutrients, and how they eliminate wastes and byproducts.
Each of your cells is just a tiny, mini, microscopic version of YOU. Did you know, that every cell has all the components and systems to function the same as you do? Respiratory, excretory, circulatory, etc. Just like you need rest to recharge, rejuvenate, and repair, so do your cells.
If you shortchange your cells, the goo starts to accumulate, and the decay, decomposition and acidic chemical reactions commence. It’s especially important that you give your kidneys the LOVE they need to not only do the job of filtering and eliminating, but even more than that, they need to been all charged up and ready to go to constantly be adjusting the pH of the body chemistry.
The body chemistry is continuously in flux, given the environmental influences: what’s in the air, the water, the food, and the way we emotionally respond to the environment. Think of it in the same way the computer brain in an automobile continuously adjusts the way a car runs.
Don’t take for granted the cumulative effect of poor sleeping habits and how they play into your ability to fight off gout.
☆ Bottom-Line: Get some sleep and kill some gout!
“I know your pain. Let me help you kill your gout for good! And teach you to advocate for yourself and take ownership of your gout recovery, by showing you how to live the gout-free lifestyle.” Two decades ago, Bert Middleton found himself diagnosed with gout. Like 8.3 million other people in the United States (approximately 4% of the population), he struggled helplessly with the physical, emotional, social, and financial impact that gout left unchecked can have on your life. Prescription drugs were of limited help… And the terrible pain of regular gout attacks left him unable to enjoy even the simplest daily pleasures. His marriage was suffering. His finances were spiraling due to the impact gout had on his ability to work. And maintaining a social life was often nearly impossible. Tophi surgeries left him in terrible pain. And he found himself depressed … and angry … that gout was stealing years of his life.
Until one day, after hundreds of hours of research and self-experimentation, Bert finally had a breakthrough and created a blueprint for a way of living that would prove to be “the answer” to living gout-free for nearly a decade now. Today, Bert and his “Gout Wife” Sharon devote their evenings and weekends to educating other gout sufferers on how to live the gout-free lifestyle. Showing others his 911 Emergency Response Gout Recovery Plan for getting PAINFUL gout attacks under control in as little as 4 hours. And then, how to make daily choices that keep gout under control for GOOD! So you can finally start LIVING again!
