Cardiovascular Disease, Gout, Obesity….What Else?

Right there alongside of cardiovascular disease is, diabetes, stoke, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer. Got anything you want to add? It’s fascinating how many articles and conversations that go something like this; “cardiovascular disease and this, cardiovascular disease and that”…could it be this wonderful modern lifestyle we all enjoy so much is killing us? All this fabulous food from all corners of the earth?

What sparked this post about cardiovascular disease, the symptoms of gout, and all the others, was an article that I came across out of The Chief Dietician at the Ministry of Health, Mrs Margaret Hanson, had a lot to say about the quality of food and specifically the difference between locally-grown chicken and imported poultry grown with grown hormones. I snagged the juicy part of it and got it right here for you:

Foreign frozen poultry causes cardiovascular diseases – MoH

The Chief Dietician said another problem with imported poultry was that the birds were fed with growth hormones which increased their growth rate and thereby made them exceptionally bigger and with more fat.

She said due to the long period in freezers and the medicine given them, “even the taste of the local bird and imported frozen chicken are not the same”.

She said coupled with those problems was the fact that because of differences in taste, Ghanaians were being forced to use a lot of seasoning, which also contained monosodium, an additive full of salt.

Mrs Hanson said one did not need any scientific examination to determine the high fat content of foreign poultry products because a cursory examination easily indicated that foreign frozen foods were of high fat content than the local ones.

“Let us support the eating of fresh and locally produced poultry,” Mrs Hanson said and asked “whether Ghanaians want to save money by going for the foreign poultry product and increase the risk to their health or want to purchase the locally breed poultry at high cost and save their lives. ?”

As far cardiovascular disease goes…

…the US should take some notes about growing a cleaner and more localized food industry. In a world where we import WATER from other countries and we can live in places where food can’t even be grown, is it any wonder why we are battling cardiovascular disease, gout, obesity, and all the rest? Maybe it’s time to rethink how much we really need and how much is really enough.

This email is a bit overdue, but I wanted to touch base and let you know how helpful, effective and encouraging your emails are. I appreciate that I am still on the list despite having difficulty watching your initial program.

The information and pointers that you give for me as a gout sufferer have been a blessing. It has have helped me understand the disease, given me tools to prevent it and have given me hope to overcome it. Regardless of the long term outcome in relation to the gout, your information helps someone live an overall healthier lifestyle, and enables people to think beyond a single-minded paradigm in an approach to beating gout.

This has been a journey for me, and a testing of my perseverance. As the Apostle Paul says in Romans chapter 5, “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance character; and character, hope.”

While I sense that my battle with this disease is not done, I feel like it is definitely going in the right direction, and you have been a big part of guiding me and enabling to stay in that positive direction. And yes, your encouraging words have provided hope.

Please feel free to use anything in this email as a testimonial for your web site/advertising etc. It is the least I can do.

All the best,

You’ve got gout…is cardiovascular disease in your future?

Bert Middleton

“I know your pain. Let me help you kill your gout for good!  And teach you to advocate for yourself and take ownership of your gout recovery, by showing you how to live the gout-free lifestyle.” Two decades ago, Bert Middleton found himself diagnosed with gout. Like 8.3 million other people in the United States (approximately 4% of the population), he struggled helplessly with the physical, emotional, social, and financial impact that gout left unchecked can have on your life. Prescription drugs were of limited help… And the terrible pain of regular gout attacks left him unable to enjoy even the simplest daily pleasures. His marriage was suffering. His finances were spiraling due to the impact gout had on his ability to work. And maintaining a social life was often nearly impossible. Tophi surgeries left him in terrible pain.  And he found himself depressed … and angry … that gout was stealing years of his life.

Until one day, after hundreds of hours of research and self-experimentation, Bert finally had a breakthrough and created a blueprint for a way of living that would prove to be “the answer” to living gout-free for nearly a decade now. Today, Bert and his “Gout Wife” Sharon devote their evenings and weekends to educating other gout sufferers on how to live the gout-free lifestyle. Showing others his 911 Emergency Response Gout Recovery Plan for getting PAINFUL gout attacks under control in as little as 4 hours. And then, how to make daily choices that keep gout under control for GOOD! So you can finally start LIVING again!
