Hi, my name is Bert Middleton, and I know your pain because I’ve been there. Over a decade ago, I was losing my own personal battle against gout until I discovered some simple remedies that helped me overcome the short-term pain of gout attacks. These remedies, along with some lifestyle changes, have kept me gout-free for over 10 years now.
It took me a long time to figure these things out, though… And I wasted a lot of time and money on appointments, supplements, books, and over-hyped remedies that didn’t work.
Short and sweet, this list below is really all you need. It includes every remedy that has worked for me and the thousands of others I’ve shared it with.
Kill Your Gout Now! Home Remedy
Once I discovered this simple remedy, it became the first step I would always use to eliminate my gout attacks.
The Kill Your Gout Now! handbook lays out the exact step by step formula that will get rid of your gout attack in as little as 2-4 hours.
The recommendations in the handbook are not expensive and it gives you two things:
First a formula that combines common grocery store items so that you can stop your gout pain now.
Second, it gives you a simple plan to stay gout free, so that you can prevent future gout attacks.
You can learn more about the Kill Your Gout Now! formula here.
Tart Cherry Juice
The effectiveness of tart cherry juice for gout has finally received the recognition it deserves. Tart Cherry helps decrease blood uric acid levels tremendously according to studies documented by ScienceDaily.
Multiple studies, such as this study from 2016 and this study from 2012 conclude tart cherry juice might be effective as a home remedy for many and it also may work to prevent future gout attacks.
During a gout attack, I recommend combining 4oz of tart cherry juice with 4oz good clean filtered water and drinking it every 2 hours until the attack subsides.
For preventative measures, in addition to staying properly hydrated, combining 2oz of tart cherry juice concentrate with 10oz of good clean filtered water is a good preventative daily dose. Another more portable option comes in the form of tart cherry capsules.
Celery Seed Extract
Celery is quite possibly the perfect gout-fighting food. It acts as an anti-inflammatory, helping with pain from gout attacks. It is also a diuretic, promoting the excretion of uric acid through urine. It helps manage uric acid by acting as an xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor, and it is highly alkalizing, which helps reduce uric acid buildup.
The medicinal qualities of celery are found in the fresh stalks, but are more potent in celery seeds.
I recommend eating 4-8 stalks of fresh celery daily (if possible) and also taking 1-2 celery seed extract pills each day. The pills provide a more potent concentration of the gout-fighting medicinal compounds, and their convenience helps you take in a consistent amount.
Alkalizing Diet & (Avoid Purine-Rich Foods/Drinks!)
Foods and drinks that are alkalizing or alkaline-forming are one of the best treatments. Fresh fruits and vegetables are typically strong antioxidants and valuable for raising the pH of the body chemistry to a healthier alkaline level.
Examples of Alkaline foods to be consumed include: Water, which can be made alkaline if run through an alkalizing kitchen water filter. Almost all vegetables, especially dark leafy greens. Some grains are alkaline, including amaranth, quinoa, millet, and kasha. Whole, real salts – like Celtic, Himalayan, and Real Sea Salt. Some fruits – like lemons, limes and sour cherries.
High-quality ionized alkaline water is the best thing to drink! Also, during an active gout flare make sure to avoid high purine foods and drinks such as red meat, organ meats, most seafood, alcohol, and sugary drinks.
Epsom Salt Soaks
Soaking the affected joint in warm water and Epsom salts is directly alkalizing in a “localized” way for the gout-ravaged joint.
Epsom salts are very alkaline, and will penetrate the skin to get inside the body helping to dissolve the uric acid crystals. Soak your affected joint for 20 minutes in an Epsom Salt bath that is warm, not hot.
After the bath, apply an ice pack for 20 minutes. The ice should be wrapped in a towel so that it is not in direct contact with your skin. The ice will help reduce the inflammation that is causing the swelling.
The alternation between hot and cold will increase the blood flow to the area, helping to move the blood and lymph in and out of the joint which will help end the attack.
High Doses of Vitamin C
Large doses of vitamin C create rapid and significant antioxidant action to help cellular health and function, during an attack.
Studies have shown specifically that vitamin C helps in reducing uric acid, which helps to prevent gout attacks by keeping the immune system strong.
Additionally, vitamin C helps keep the liver and kidneys working well, the cardiovascular and lymph systems free of excess toxins, which all adds up to maintaining the kind of strong health that does not allow gout to occur.
Rest, Reduce Stress, and Recover!
It is important to rest. Try to elevate and ice the affected joint several times per day. This can help reduce swelling and pain.
Try to avoid stress as excessive stress can worsen your gout attack. If possible, I recommend that you clear your schedule for the next 24 hours…
If you can’t that’s okay, but if you can afford the time away get some rest and relax it will help you recover.
Key Takeaways
To stop the pain of an active gout attack as fast as possible, here is what I would do (in order of importance).
- Avoid acidic foods and drinks, high purine foods such as red meat, organ meats, most seafood, etc. Avoid alcohol, carbonated drinks, and sugary drinks. They will worsen and prolong the attack.
- Follow the Kill Your Gout Now! Formula instructions. Start it as soon as possible, as it will be the most crucial part of this process.
- High-quality ionized alkaline water (pH > 7) is the best thing to drink! Make sure to drink around 1/2 gallon per day. This can be purchased at your local grocery store.
- Combine 4oz of tart cherry juice with 4oz of alkaline water and drink it every 2 hours until the attack subsides.
- Eat 4-8 stalks of fresh celery daily and also take 1-2 celery seed extract pills each day (if possible).
- Elevate your affected joint above heart level to help drain the fluids. Ice your joint several times per day in 15 minute intervals. This can help reduce swelling and pain.
- It is important to rest and try to avoid stress. Also avoid any stress or pressure on the attacked joint.
- Once you have everything you need from the grocery store, and are at home resting following the above instructions, continue Kill Your Gout Now! to treat and prevent future attacks.
“I know your pain. Let me help you kill your gout for good! And teach you to advocate for yourself and take ownership of your gout recovery, by showing you how to live the gout-free lifestyle.” Two decades ago, Bert Middleton found himself diagnosed with gout. Like 8.3 million other people in the United States (approximately 4% of the population), he struggled helplessly with the physical, emotional, social, and financial impact that gout left unchecked can have on your life. Prescription drugs were of limited help… And the terrible pain of regular gout attacks left him unable to enjoy even the simplest daily pleasures. His marriage was suffering. His finances were spiraling due to the impact gout had on his ability to work. And maintaining a social life was often nearly impossible. Tophi surgeries left him in terrible pain. And he found himself depressed … and angry … that gout was stealing years of his life.
Until one day, after hundreds of hours of research and self-experimentation, Bert finally had a breakthrough and created a blueprint for a way of living that would prove to be “the answer” to living gout-free for nearly a decade now. Today, Bert and his “Gout Wife” Sharon devote their evenings and weekends to educating other gout sufferers on how to live the gout-free lifestyle. Showing others his 911 Emergency Response Gout Recovery Plan for getting PAINFUL gout attacks under control in as little as 4 hours. And then, how to make daily choices that keep gout under control for GOOD! So you can finally start LIVING again!
