Can I Use Essential Oils For Gout?

What home remedy have you had the most success treating your gout with?  Have you tried using essential oils for gout?

Our bodies are complex pieces of biomechanical machinery and it's amazing how many different plants and herbs can produce miraculous results at helping us maintain and improve our health.  The big question is:  What is in those plants that produce those miraculous results?

Essential Oils for Gout

Hmmm...Essential Oils for Gout!

That's a big question to ponder - how can those plants be so beneficial, and how do we make the most of what they have to offer?  That is what using essential oils for gout is all about.

One of the most telling ways to make sense of how powerful the constituents of plants can be for health and healing - with a direct application to gout - is to look closely at Colchicine.  Colchicine is derived from the Autumn Crocus plant, sometimes called Meadow Saffron.

Colchicine reduces gout pain by slowing down inflammation and altering the process of cell division.  Unfortunately, this process of natural cell division is not limited to white blood cells - it also includes many other types of cells in the body...increasing the potential of dangerous side effects.

How Do Essential Oils Work for Gout?

There are two ways that the active ingredients of essential oils make it into our bloodstream to affect changes in our biochemistry; first is through inhalation, and second is transdermally.

It's pretty easy to find explanations of how essential oils work, but I'd like to give you my understanding of using essential oils for gout.  This of course is based on my own experience in managing and preventing this dastardly condition.

Using Essential Oils for Gout: Inhalation or "Aromatherapy"

If you use essential oils for aromatherapy - i.e. you inhale them, the first mental picture I want you to get is that different oils help with respiration.  If your bronchial tubes are opened up and your breathing more deeply and completely, your blood oxygen saturation is improved.  The better your blood oxygen saturation, the less likely your blood will become acidic with uric acid and other metabolic substances.

Since gout attacks often occur at night or we wake up with them, using a diffuser could be a good way to keep your nasal passages open and keep your blood oxygen saturation up during your sleeping hours.

Using Essential Oils for Gout: Topically or "Transdermally"

Something I've done quite bit of is just put a few drops of different oils right on my the areas that seem like they might be getting gouty.  Or, if I just want to make sure those joints don't get attacked, like my big toes or my wrists, I will rub some of the oils in just as a preventative measure.  They always say to use some kind of "carrier oil" like coconut oil to help the penetration, but I never have...maybe I should.

Try this out for a  mental picture:  People who are trying to quit smoking use "the patch", right?  That is "transdermal" delivery.  It's nothing new.  We smear all kinds of stuff on our skin to produce different results for all kinds of different reasons.  The really good thing about using essential oils for gout, is that our skin is porous - those oils soak into your bloodstream within seconds.  Some oils that are really good for liver and kidney function.  The better our liver and kidneys are working, the better chances we have for killing gout.

This cure worked almost INSTANTLY!

Bert, I have had two unlikely miracles occur to me in my lifetime. One was the podiatrist who prescribed shoe inserts when I could not walk and now when I had the gout. I say unlikely because I felt that neither had a snowball’s chance in hell of working. But, this little cure worked almost instantly and the person who could not walk at all yesterday was out car shopping today. Simply unbelievable how fast this remedy works. Thanks.

Larry

Which Essential Oils Should I Use for Gout?

There are a number of different essential oils for gout.  Depending on what your source is - and there are many - essential oils can help to relieve pain and lower uric acid in the blood.  Here are the few that I have used and feel like they have been helpful in keeping my gout at bay:

  • Wintergreen
  • Frankincense
  • Marjoram
  • Basil
  • Lemon-grass

As previously mentioned, there are other essential oils that are believed to be beneficial in helping to reduce the pain of gout.  Additionally, it's been reported that they can be helpful in dissolving uric acid crystals and urate deposits, as well as lowering blood uric acid.

It is really important to understand that these essential oils are the distillation of the most health promoting active ingredients from the plants they are derived from.  Phytomedicines are all we had to work with before pharmaceuticals came around.  And it needs to be noted that many pharmaceuticals are based on the active ingredients from different plants - colchicine being one of them.

I am going to give you my understanding of my experience with using essential oils for #gout, both to manage and prevent this dastardly condition.

Ways I Use Essential Oils Other Than Gout

What you'll find is that many essential oils are both antibacterial and antiviral, but also anti-fungal.  Here are three ways I use essential oils other than for gout:

  1.  Oil of Oregano - Warts...I had these warts on my hand that I was able to slowly make disappear with oil of oregano.

  2. Tea Tree Oil - I have a special mouth wash that I buy that has tea tree oil in it - it helps keep oral infection in check.

  3. Eucalyptus - if I have winter coughs and colds, I take a cup of hot water and drop in a few drops, and breathe and inhale.  Within a day or so, things clear up quickly.

You can definitely use essential oils for gout, but there are a million other ways that you can use them to keep yourself healthy and strong.

“I know your pain.  Let me help you kill your gout for good!  And teach you to advocate for yourself and take ownership of your gout recovery, by showing you how to live the gout-free lifestyle.”

Two decades ago, Bert Middleton found himself diagnosed with gout.   Like 8.3 million other people in the United States (approximately 4% of the population), he struggled helplessly with the physical, emotional, social, and financial impact that gout left unchecked can have on your life.

Prescription drugs were of limited help…

And the terrible pain of regular gout attacks left him unable to enjoy even the simplest daily pleasures.  His marriage was suffering.  His finances were spiraling due to the impact gout had on his ability to work. And maintaining a social life was often nearly impossible.

Tophi surgeries left him in terrible pain.  And he found himself depressed … and angry … that gout was stealing years of his life.

Until one day, after hundreds of hours of research and self-experimentation, Bert finally had a breakthrough and created a blueprint for a way of living that would prove to be “the answer” to living gout-free for nearly a decade now.

Today, Bert and his “Gout Wife” Sharon devote their evenings and weekends to educating other gout sufferers on how to live the gout-free lifestyle via their website TheGoutKiller.com

Showing others his 911 Emergency Response Gout Recovery Plan for getting PAINFUL gout attacks under control in as little as 4 hours.

And then, how to make daily choices that keep gout under control for GOOD!

So you can finally start LIVING again!

Your comments on essential oils for gout treatment was, of course, spot on as was your emergency recipe for pain control. Your experience with the oils you named were tried and true by many through the years of research in scientific study. Dr David Stewart documented his research and study of essential oils in "The Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Simple" obtainable easily at Amazon. Another good source of educating ourselves for practical use is Linda L. Smith's book "Healing Oils Healing hands" which documents her professional use of essential oils as a nurse. The medical community cannot duplicate all the nano-sized properties in these essential oils which is why they have so few good remedies for gout. I give you all the praise, Bert, for your research and generosity in sharing your discoveries. I will recommend Young Living Essential Oils for any serious usage of oils simply on the basis of personal use. You have to consider how the plants were grown, harvested, processed, packaged and bottled. Believe me, it matters in terms of effectiveness and purity. You do want the oils to work on removing gout and not increase toxins to your body. My experience with oils include cypress, copaiba, and clove and cedarwood. clove=phenol=cleaning cell receptor sites 1-2 drops three times per day neat(directly to skin) cypress=monoterpene=deprograms bad cell site info= 1-2 drops three times per day to clean skin cedarwood=sesquiterpene=reprograms cell site to homeostasis(normal) 1-2 drops three times per day to clean skin copaiba=monoterpene, sesquiterpine=pain relief, applied to pain location 1-2 drops on clean skin every three hours or as needed. Hope I have encouraged you to keep searching and sharing. Best of health Linda
