When the first symptoms of gout in the knee start to become apparent, it is time to take swift action. And the sooner you take action, the less gout pain you will experience.

Gout symptoms in the knee are caused by the very same pH imbalance that causes gout to flare in the big toe joint, the wrist or ankle. Excess uric acid in the bloodstream is what brings on the pain of knee gout symptoms and it can be corrected quickly with simple alkalizing methods.

Purines and Uric Acid

The crystallized uric acid that causes gout pain is created by the breakdown of a substance called purines. Purines are part of every cell that make up all plant and animal food sources. Purines are also produced by the human body itself.

Some foods, namely proteins like meats and beans, are higher in purine content that others. One way that high levels of uric acid accumulate in the blood is by eating these types of foods. Another way is by consuming drinks and foods that are made with a generous amount of high fructose corn syrup.

However, the true problem is that the kidneys are temporarily not able to balance the pH of the body chemistry as they normally do. Kidney function can become impaired for a number of reasons in addition to consuming certain types of foods; toxic environmental chemicals in the air and water, stress hormones, dehydration, skin contact with toxic substances, physical over-exertion, and others.

When the kidneys are overloaded, the uric acid may not be properly processed and excreted. Normally, uric acid is produced and used by the body as a protective antioxidant, but when over-abundant, its corrosive nature can become problem.

The alternative that nature has provided is to allow the excess uric acid to crystallize in a joint far from the vital organs to protect them – this is the fundamental point to understand when the question, what is gout? comes up.

The First Signs

The first signs of knee gout begin with simple twinges of pain, or a low-level, dull ache. Many gout attacks start at night, and in the early stages of gout, the person experiencing the first signals will typically ignore them.

For those well-acquainted with gout, these first signs are warnings to proceed with methods of alkalizing – the sooner the acidic inner body condition is neutralized and brought to a more alkaline level, the less pain will be experienced to a lesser degree and with shorter duration.

Stiffness with Knee Gout

If ignored, stiffness will slowly set in as the next phase of knee gout symptoms. The pain will increase at the same rate and this can take as little as a few hours. This is the critical juncture; most people are either in denial or are completely unaware of what is about to happen.

Swelling and Inflammation

The stiffness is due to the gradual increase in swelling and inflammation. Regardless of the joint that the flare is in, knee gout can be likened to a painful crushing of the joint.

Heat and Redness

At more advanced stages of unattended knee gout symptoms, the entire knee joint starts to balloon with an extreme amount of redness and heat. The skin can become very hot and shiny as it is stretched so tightly.

Hi,Bert,

You are a lifesaver!! I have been struggling with this gout attack in several areas of my left foot since before Easter. I followed your guidelines and got some relief within a couple of hours. After four doses of baking soda water and lemon water I am about 95% clear.Your program is going to make a huge difference in my life.

Thank You, Thank You!

Treatment for Knee Gout Symptoms

As mentioned earlier, moving swiftly to neutralize the acidic reaction as early as possible is the best course of action; both as gout treatment and gout prevention. There are several suggestions that can be implemented:

  • Mix baking soda and water and drink it – this is the fastest way to neutralize the uric acid. This can help to dissolve the crystals that have already formed and also work to keep the uric acid that hasn’t crystallized in solution
  • Studies have shown that the intake of vitamin C decreases the risk of gout in men – the product Emergen-C ( Lite with MSM) is a good choice
  • Soak towels in warm water and Epsom salts and wrap the knee – then alternate with towel-wrapped icepacks
  • Eat fresh celery, apples, cherries, and bananas – these are strong antioxidants and alkalizing foods
  • Drink clean filtered water – 8oz every half hour until all knee gout symptoms have completely disappeared

Preventing Future Attacks

The most effective concept to approach gout prevention with, is the understanding that alkaline is the opposite of acid.

The human body needs:

  • Air/oxygen
  • Water
  • Food/nutrition

…in that order.

Proper awareness and habits of breathing full and complete are the top priority. Next is maintaining ample hydration at all times. Last is food – eating a diet of mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, complimented with clean sources of protein, is the best . . . which is part of the “how-to” you get in my video-based gout killin’ program.

Remember!  When symptoms of gout in the knee become noticeable, act quickly and start the process of alkalizing.
