Gout. It’s more than just unbearable pain, wouldn’t you agree?
The true cost of gout has been coming up a lot lately and it’s definitely something we need to talk more about. Along with the growing incidence of gout, I’ve found there is also a growing concern for reasonable gout treatment, and reasonable gout prevention as well.
I for one, am happy to hear about this growing concern because it starts to break us out of the brainwashing we’ve all been subjected to by the allopathic medicine model.
Fortunately there are many commonsense home remedies and lifestyle adjustments that can be made to bring about permanent relief from the signs and symptoms of gout. That is really important to get your head wrapped around; drugs and pills that attempt to manipulate uric acid levels do not address the root cause of gout…and, inadvertently add to the high cost of gout.
How Much Is Gout Really Costing You?
Good question isn’t it? You’ve been the unsuspecting recipient of the merciless symptoms of gout enough that from time to time, you’ve had to drop everything and get on down to the doctor and get some tests run. Do you have insurance? How much does your insurance cost you per year? That is just the beginning.
Lets dig a little deeper and get a firm grip on the true cost of gout.
The Pain
When the conversation turns to gout, “pain” is what comes up first. Pain? Is that a “cost” to you? That relentless pain of a gout attack that endures days and weeks costs you in many ways. What would you pay to get out of gout pain? How much have you paid for various gout treatments in the past?
What I’d like you to know is this: I’ve been there…and gout has cost me plenty, in a whole bunch of different ways.
The Loss of Income
If I were to ask you to stop and think about it, (and I’m going to!) how much would you say you’ve lost in the way of income from doing the dance with gout? How much does a day way from your job or business cost you? $200? $10K? Gout is a thief in the night (no pun intended) that robs you blind while you’re wincing and moaning.
Gout…is a heartless beast.
The Embarrassment
One time I had a date with this woman that I’d been chasing around for months. I narrowly dodged a missed opportunity by a few hours.
I remember sitting a bar in Santa Fe, NM, drinking a glass of wine with her as I felt the dreaded gout beast creeping into my foot. As luck would have it, we finished the date in the nick of time, and I was able to get home and deal with it – deal with it for the next several days before I asked her out again.
How many opportunities have you missed because of gout? How many times have you had to cancel a business meeting, a trip or a vacation, a special night out, just because gout decided to pay a visit?
How many times have you sheepishly explained what gout is to friends and colleagues as you limp through a day of work or maybe your kids soccer game?
It doesn’t have to be that way – gout DOES NOT have to rule your life. Gout is completely optional…you just have to take the opportunity to kill the beast before it strikes again!
The Waste of Time
The time wasted dealing with chronic gout is simply frustrating and annoying. An often overlooked aspect of this is: If you’re not doing what you’re supposed to be doing or what you want to be doing, you are now “set back”. Set back and all those things you needed or wanted to do, still have to be done!
Still waiting for you, is your workload, the chores around the house, the catching up on the bill paying, or studying for the next round of negotiations. All those things you didn’t get done are still there, still waiting. But now a new pile of “everything” has arrived and ALSO has to be attended to.
Gout sets you back. Period.
The Mental Anguish
The toll gout takes on you mentally could quite possibly be the greatest cost of all. Maybe you’ve only gotten gout a few times and you might not really understand this part. But you “veterans”, you out there, you know who you are – you KNOW gout for the bummer that it truly is.
Not only does it suck the cash out of your pocket, lose income opportunities for you, waste your time, AND embarrass the hell out of you, but . . . it’s depressing.
Even thought of another gout attack sends you into the depths of despair and after a few years of one debilitating gout attack after another, it starts to shake your self esteem.
You start asking yourself stuff like, “what’s wrong with me”, or, “I better not go anywhere or do anything because I might stir up my gout”, or “if I do ______, gout might sneak up on me and that would be embarrassing as hell trying to get out of there”.
Gout messes with your mind and starts to run you life…unless you get busy.

Hi Bert,
The “remedy” of BS and ACV worked immediately as you said it would. A steady diet of banana-blueberry smoothies, green tea and celery on Day 2 has kept the swelling down. Not sure what caused the flare up as we eat a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables, lean beef, chicken and fish, and moderate alcohol use. Your theory of too much acid, possibly caused by stress, makes sense. Will try lemon-infused water to make my body more alkaline – plus continue the bananas, celery and cherries. Other ideas welcome. The drugs the doctor prescribed were making me sick, so your remedy (other than the ACV!) was a welcome relief.

The True Cost of Gout Prevention
There are two ways to look at what it’s going to cost you to be gout-free – you can:
- Submit yourself to the highway robbery of the gout drugs like allopurinol and that your MD has convinced you is the only way out, OR
- You can start to get yourself educated about your gout-killin’ options.
Gout is a matter of commonsense. It’s an overly acidic inner body condition that is easily dealt with by taking advantage of better health options in the way of diet, herbal remedies, supplements, smarter habits of exercise and sleep, and more.
Drugs are certainly one way to make progress with gout…the lazy way – a way that is not going to promote the best overall health for you as you grow older.
Following a program that leads you in the direction of greater vitality and strength is the real way to overcome gout, and in the long run, the most cost-effective way.
☆ Remember! The true cost of gout is subject to YOUR OWN willingness to pay attention to YOUR OWN good health.
“I know your pain. Let me help you kill your gout for good! And teach you to advocate for yourself and take ownership of your gout recovery, by showing you how to live the gout-free lifestyle.” Two decades ago, Bert Middleton found himself diagnosed with gout. Like 8.3 million other people in the United States (approximately 4% of the population), he struggled helplessly with the physical, emotional, social, and financial impact that gout left unchecked can have on your life. Prescription drugs were of limited help… And the terrible pain of regular gout attacks left him unable to enjoy even the simplest daily pleasures. His marriage was suffering. His finances were spiraling due to the impact gout had on his ability to work. And maintaining a social life was often nearly impossible. Tophi surgeries left him in terrible pain. And he found himself depressed … and angry … that gout was stealing years of his life.
Until one day, after hundreds of hours of research and self-experimentation, Bert finally had a breakthrough and created a blueprint for a way of living that would prove to be “the answer” to living gout-free for nearly a decade now. Today, Bert and his “Gout Wife” Sharon devote their evenings and weekends to educating other gout sufferers on how to live the gout-free lifestyle. Showing others his 911 Emergency Response Gout Recovery Plan for getting PAINFUL gout attacks under control in as little as 4 hours. And then, how to make daily choices that keep gout under control for GOOD! So you can finally start LIVING again!
