- All About Gout, Facts of Gout, Truth of Gout
In all my efforts to better understand what gout is and it’s far-reaching effects, it’s amazing to me how gout in young people seems to be on the rise. I’ve now had some interaction with a young guy in his 20s, tell me he first got gout when he was 17! Amazing! And I’ve had dozens of people telling me about how they first got gout in their 20s, and countless others that have reported getting gout in their 30s…me included. I got my first gout attack when I was 38.
This one jumped out at me because I’ve been so surprised by how much gout in young people there is out there – check out this article from CBS Philly:
Health: Doctors Seeing Rise Of Gout In Young People
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A growing number of younger people are being diagnosed with gout, a painful foot condition that usually strikes older people. 3 On Your Side Health Reporter Stephanie Stahl is here with more.
It’s described as sudden excruciating pain that often strikes at night. Gout is a painful form of arthritis. Now, increasing numbers of younger people are suffering with gout, and doctors want to get the word out.
At 40, Bob Fratto thought he sprained his foot.
“It started out as a small pain in my big toe. It progressed into my ankle, making it impossible to walk at times. I even used a crutch for a week,” said Bob.
Doctors finally diagnosed gout, a painful problem for a growing number of younger people. Experts aren’t sure why.
“I’m seeing a fair amount of gout in people who are 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. I’d say over the last three to four years, [rather] than for example, when I was training most of the gout was in 60’s, 70’s, 80 year old patients,” said Dr. Fotious Koupouras, an Arthritis Specialist.
With gout, something called uric acid builds up in the joints and forms crystals. These cause pain and swelling, typically in the big toe.
“Gout is one of the most painful arthritis conditions known. Individuals who get multiple attacks of gout lose work. These people have difficulty ambulating. We think diet plays a large role for why younger patients are getting gout,” said Dr. Koupouras.

I believe the increased daily hydration is the single most significant change in my being almost complexity gout attack free in the past couple of months!! Thank for THAT and all the other good habits and mindfulness you’ve instilled! I stayed gout free during my trip overseas and all of you suggestions were helpful and contributed.

Why Are We Seeing This Happen Younger and Younger?
The article touched on it then steered us to the drugs…of course. But my experience, research, and findings are showing that gout in young people is not limited to just the Standard American Diet (SAD) diet, but also an over-abundance of living in the middle of so much toxic crap in general.
I’ve spent a lot of time and effort pointing people in the direction of being more aware of their environments; what’s in the air they’re breathing, the water they’re drinking, and the chemicals/substances/hormones they’re making inside their bodies from the crazy stressful lives their living.
The fake, toxic, crap food we get these days is a no-brainer.
☆ Gout in young people is unnecessary.

Bert Middleton, The Original Gout Killer
“I know your pain. Let me help you kill your gout for good! And teach you to advocate for yourself and take ownership of your gout recovery, by showing you how to live the gout-free lifestyle.”
Two decades ago, Bert Middleton found himself diagnosed with gout. Like 8.3 million other people in the United States (approximately 4% of the population), he struggled helplessly with the physical, emotional, social, and financial impact that gout left unchecked can have on your life.
Prescription drugs were of limited help…
And the terrible pain of regular gout attacks left him unable to enjoy even the simplest daily pleasures. His marriage was suffering. His finances were spiraling due to the impact gout had on his ability to work. And maintaining a social life was often nearly impossible.
Tophi surgeries left him in terrible pain. And he found himself depressed … and angry … that gout was stealing years of his life.
Until one day, after hundreds of hours of research and self-experimentation, Bert finally had a breakthrough and created a blueprint for a way of living that would prove to be “the answer” to living gout-free for nearly a decade now.
Today, Bert and his “Gout Wife” Sharon devote their evenings and weekends to educating other gout sufferers on how to live the gout-free lifestyle via their website TheGoutKiller.com
Showing others his 911 Emergency Response Gout Recovery Plan for getting PAINFUL gout attacks under control in as little as 4 hours.
And then, how to make daily choices that keep gout under control for GOOD!
So you can finally start LIVING again!
